Danger has been with me since the day I was born. It would take alot for your father to even get a hold of me before he'd be able to strike me down, Rue.
Once Rue gains courage, Venom was shocked to see another side of her. She seemed more confident of herself and what she wanted to do now. Venom then stood up with a big smile on his face and extends his hand out to her.
Rue took her knife from the dirt and cleaned it on the hem of her shirt. Sheathing it, she took Venom's hand and stood up beside him. Retracting her hand, she ran her fingers through her hair, thinking.
"It's not that simple. We can't just charge into my father's house, demanding answers and not expect to be caught. He's had armies hunting me since the day I left. He killed my sister, the only person I had left, in cold blood to punish me. My brother - my own brother - betrayed my trust and handed Azalea over to my father, then made it up to me by giving me this." She pointed to the scar on her face, the result of a brutal fight with her brother on one occasion when she was almost caught by her father's army. "I can't just go back there, and I can't allow anyone to do it for me. But I need to find her... I have to... But I can't..."
She trailed off, lost in her conflicting emotions. Part of her needed to go back and get answers in order to find her mother, but the other part of her knew it was a dangerous, possibly hopeless risk.
She looked at Venom with a small smile on her face.
"Thank you, for everything. But I need time to think about this. We'll see each other soon."
She turned from him and walked back towards town, not waiting for a response, just wanting to get away from there and the ghosts of their stories.
Venom remained there for a while by himself... thinking. The sun was setting and it finally came to him. He nodded to himself and with Rue no longer there he said...
Rue... I will help you find your mother... This I promise you.
