Mate. I got over my nervousness by having to live without a shirt. I ain't gonna laugh.
Alec [M:118:6:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=412&page=1#1242]"I see," said the blind man to the deaf lady.[0:Wandering the stacks.][1:Present and accounted for.]
"Looking like this? Pot calling the kettle black, that would be."
Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning, striding behind you, or your shadow at evening, rising to meet you. I shall show you fear in a handful of dust.
Chaz sighed and rubbed his face reluctantly, slowly unbuttoning his shirt.
He was indeed very skinny; almost unhealthily-so, but that wasn't what he was talking about. On the left side of his chest, over his heart, was a metal plate, flush to his skin as if replacing it. Stripes of metal went up the other side of his ribcage, and right where the panel met his sternum there was a small divot. There was a single glass window in the panel, and visible inside was a series of gears that clicked and whirred faintly. It was lit faintly from within, and the shadow of a small shape could be seen pumping. He swallowed.
So uh....when I said I had asthma...well, I was kind of understating it.
A good scientist is a person with original ideas. A good engineer is a person who makes a design that works with as few original ideas as possible.
Grayell looked at it for a moment.... and then shrugged.
Well hey then. Now get your ass in the water bud and relax.

Staring intently, Alec blinks slowly. "That," he says, rubbing his chin, "is amazing. Are you a complete amalgam, or just your lungs, or..." Coughing, he meets Chaz's eye. "Right. Sorry. Shutting up now."

My heart and one lung. When I was a kitten I was diagnosed with a weak heart and told I would only live to ten. Then a priest worshiping the god Kloquirk did a little, uhh....surgery. He pulled a key from his pocket and tapped it against his knee.
Ever since then I've liked machines. They sort of listen to me, you know. As stupid as that sounds.
A good scientist is a person with original ideas. A good engineer is a person who makes a design that works with as few original ideas as possible.
Sounds perfectly sane to me. Shit, I talk to trees.
Grayell chuckled and just stared at the water.

"And I bend metal to my will. So, watch out!" Alec says, standing and putting a sinister emphasis on the last two words. Remaining standing for a few seconds, he chuckles then falls back into the water. "I kid, I kid."

Aha! He laughed loudly and nervously, then cleared his throat, looking down at the key.
Ahah. Yeah. Funny.
A good scientist is a person with original ideas. A good engineer is a person who makes a design that works with as few original ideas as possible.

"Sorry bout that. I'm not as funny as I like to think." Brushing wet hair out of his face, Alec cocks his head. "What's with the key? Wind yourself up?"

Simeon had never seen anything like that before. He knew little to nothing about how gears and machinery worked. "That is definitely a different kind of healing than I am accustomed to. It's truly amazing that they were able to keep you alive and--well... I'm sorry. It's a shame you've had to live like this. But I am truly glad that you are here. While I've never before seen anything like this, it's definitely nothing to laugh at. It's who you are."
As an afterthought, the monk added, "To tell the truth, I've never actually seen any of this technology--at all. Although, I did see a pocket watch once..."
