The jailhouse used to be a slave auction building, before the practice was outlawed. With the help of her friends, Margrett turned it into a jailhouse. The downstairs cages were repurposed into cells, and the upstairs was turned into Margrett's house. It's small but it works very well, furnished just how Margrett likes it; sparse.

Grayell leads the cart to the old slave auction building and pulls it up outside. His hand soothes the horses, he presses his forehead to them and whispers, a gesture that the horse nods too. He smiles and then turns to everyone that had followed.
This, is the site of a former slave auction and consequently held many cells. It has an upstairs holding area, a dungeon below and an upstairs area that will be the Captain's new as per her request.
I have asked you all to join me because well, you're being put to work.
If you've any objections speak now.
Alec [M:118:6:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=412&page=1#1242]"I see," said the blind man to the deaf lady.[0:Wandering the stacks.][1:Present and accounted for.]
Still working the now-warm piece of metal, Alec perks up at this, and nudges Gray in the side. "We get paid, yeah? I'll take more books, if you got'em."
Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning, striding behind you, or your shadow at evening, rising to meet you. I shall show you fear in a handful of dust.
Kerag already knew the potential of the location and nodded his head approvingly, arms folded across his chest, glowing red eye making eye contact with the Commander.
"I'm here to prove my worth to the Guard, you'll have no objections from me."
Grayell nodded and paced. He then proceed to Alec and something exchanged hands with a thank you and a pat on his shoulder.
You're a good man Alec.
Alright you lot here's the deal.
Alec - you have a cart full of ore to work with. I want all security tripled, reinforcement of all cells and windows, doors, the lot. I want this place to be the strongest building in Wistvale.
Chaz - grab your tools and hurry back. I want full automation on all cell doors, levers as it were. I want a heating system, our prisoner will not suffer the unbearable cold in this building. I want you to see that the Captain has every modern convenience your or her could possibly fathom. If you think it needs something, you get on it. Speak with the Captain immediately and come up with some blue prints.
Kerag - well you and I are on heavy labor duty. We have a lot of ore to lug, walls to tear down and more to build. Prepare to get dirty soldier.
Grayell then removes his cloak, unfastens his armor and braces and tosses them on the seat of the cart. He unties his hair, rolls his neck and shoulders and grimaces as things stretch, pop and crack. He then grins.
I am off duty. Captain, front and center if you would.
Margrett was silent, steeping forward quietly, for once in her life honestly speechless. She looked around at the others, then down at her feet, than swallowed and looked up to Grayell. Her voice wavered a bit.
Boys, the Captain here is in complete control of this operation. You are to listen to her without question. Alec and Chaz... just go with it. You don't want to not listen to her.
He shot them both a wink and produced something in his right hand. He looked at her a moment, as serious as he'd been with her all day and then gently, pinned it to her chest.
It was a mithril star badge, quite shiny. It simply said 'Captain'. Grayell placed his hands on her shoulder and looked her square in the eyes. The corner of his mouth smiled... just a little.
Can't have a sheriff without a badge now, can we? At your command ma'am.
Kerag nodded and loosened his armor while stepping out of the cart, almost completely undressed save for a white Fundoshi he wore. His grey skin was covered in countless scars and he seemed ever so cheerful as he set aside his helm with the rest of his belongings on the cart.
"Understood Commander, It's about time we had proper containment for the criminals."
He smiled at the star and made a note to himself, that after passing the Recruit test he would climb the ranks and eventually become a Captain himself. He liked the idea tremendously.

She gasped, looking down at the badge, staring at it for a moment...before laughing. Loudly and truly laughing. She threw her arms around Gray, pinning his arms down and nearly crushing his chest. Her voice quivered and when she pulled back her eyes were a little watery.
Th...thanks, Grayell. This is the greatest thing anyone's ever done for me. I mean that. Sir. She bowed a little, tipping her hat as she did so, then turned on her heel, looking fierce and cheerful at the same time.
Alright, all you lazy bums! This jail doesn't build itself! She walked to the cart and climbed to the top of it, setting one foot triumphantly on the topmost ore pile and crossing her arms.
In case you haven't heard, I'm sheriff now, and that means I'm boss. Second to Gray. But that also means I do all the work. She winked to him and slid down, taking off her gauntlets. There was a sort of predatory glee in her eyes.
