Celephai simply nodded. There were no words for this situation. Love seemed complicated. Too complex for her, right now.
She stalked off in a random direction. It wouldn't take long to reach a fringe, and from there to return to a more stable portion of the world. She'd head to Wistvale, first. There was someone she had to see...
They stayed like that for a while. Finally, Margrett stepped forward, shrugging him off. She walked away from him.
I'm sorry. I can't do this right now. Pausing for a moment, Shuma followed her. You Were Eager To Before We Parted. She rolled her eyes.
Yes, Joran, the sex was good. Just...I can't talk now. It was a moment before Shuma spoke again.
I Know You Hurt, Margrett. I Know The Place Your Father Held In Your Heart Cannot Be Filled.
Shut up. I Know That's Why You Couldn't Tell Me How You Felt.
Shut up.
I Forgive You. I Wish You Could Forgive Me. Margrett was silent. You're Going The Wrong Way. Margrett stopped and took in a breath.
Just...just tell me where to go. You Can't Talk To Me?
No. I can't. We've already talked. I couldn't say it and you couldn't trust me on my word. She paused.
I'm more at fault than you are. Shuma shook his head. No. You Made A Mistake.
I...I still can't. You know that. I Know. I'm Not Asking Anything Of You. I Just Want To Talk. Margrett kept her head down. Shuma waited a moment, then pointed. It's That Way.
Margrett headed the way he pointed, wordlessly. Shuma followed.

Do You Remember How We Met? Margrett kept silent. You Were Clearing Out The Den Of Cultists, And So Was I. We Approached The Crypt From Different Sides So That When We Waded Through the Carnage We Met In The Middle. Margrett laughed, despite herself.
You were naked. I remember that. Shuma's mouth curled into a smile. He didn't mean to. It just did. I Didn't Know About Clothes Then.
We stood there in the middle of the crypt for like ten minutes. Each Of Us Telling The Other To Stand Down.
Then you said that since we were both killing cultists, we were probably on the same side. You Asked Me Why I Was Fighting Cultists Naked.
And....and then you said... She stopped, laughing hard enough to have to catch her breath.
"My nakedness distracts them. Foolish mortals." My Nakedness Distracts Them. Foolish Mortals.
She doubled over for a moment, wiping her eyes. Shuma chuckled, his laughter echoing strangely.
Oh god. That's...amazing. There was another pause. Margrett kept walking. You Stayed With Me Until I Found Some Armor.
We had to go to five stores to find someone that would custom fit it. That's What I Remember. That's What Makes Me Want To Go Back To The Mortal Plane.
Why don't you?
Because I Didn't want To Have To Face You.

They were silent until they came to a hill. At the top Margrett saw some ruins. A few of what once may have been buildings, made of stone and only hinting at their mind-boggling oldness and non-Euclidean construction. There. We May Find Something Useful Here. Margrett was silent as she walked towards them. She began to walk the ruins, brushing aside dirt on various surfaces, seeing if there was anything she could easily lift. Shuma sat on a stone table and watched her.
You're not going to help me? You Seemed Adamant You Could Find It Yourself.
I don't even know what I'm looking for. You'll Know When You See It.
Margrett growled and was silent for a few minutes, continuing her search. Finally she sighed.
What is your deal? Why are you following me? I should have gone back to the overworld and let the squid stay here. That's Rather Offensive.
Like I care.
You Do. You're Just Angry. I'm Following You Because We Never Got a Chance To Properly Say Goodbye.
We have now. Margrett, Listen. She stopped and turned to him, silent but letting him continue.
I Just Want Us To Part On Amiable Terms. If You Could Forgive Me, We Would Both Be Better Off.
I've forgiven you. No You Haven't. Not Really. You Say It, But You Don't Mean It.
Margrett knew he was right. She sighed, rubbing her head and walking towards him.
Look. We both know I have problems. I can't use them as an excuse anymore. It was my fault for not talking about it as much as it was your fault for not trusting me. You've already apologized. So. She stopped in front of him and took off her hat.
I'm sorry. For not being able to tell you I loved you. For not giving you reason to trust me. I'm sorry. And...I forgive you. For not trusting me. For not giving me time. I forgive you. There was silence. Shuma nodded, smiling a little. I'm More Human Than I Care To Think About. Margrett smirked.
So am I. We Are Clear? Between Us?
I'd say so. Clean slate.
I Hope We Can Be...Friends Now. Nothing More.
Well... She leaned forward suddenly, putting her hands on his thighs.
Maybe a little more. Shuma was caught off guard for a moment, but smiled uncertainly. You Were Always Forgiving, Margrett.
