The areas where Simeon had wiped water started to glow faintly. There was not much area covered, so nothing was revealed, no doorway popped out of the stone.
"Ha!" Simeon started with a laugh as he took a step back, "Just what I hoped would happen!"
He walked back, undoing one of the cloth wraps that padded his hand and supported his wrist. He soaked he cloth with water then proceeded to moisten the wall on a larger scale. At first, he maintained a shoulder to hip height as he spread the water. He watched closely as he wiped--looking carefully for any designs, lines or indentions. As soon as he finds anything interesting he stops to inspect it.
If he doesn't see anything, then he attempts to outline the shape of a door by reaching above his head and wiping all the way down to the ground.
Jonah found no answers in the puddle, just muddy water.
Simeon, however, found that water makes the wall glow faintly, but made the glow remain. As he was doing his "cleaning", he found a small triangular hole in the wall, revealed by the water. it was deeper than the length of his middle finger, could only fit one finger in it, and was the shape of an equilateral triangle.
Simeon grinned at his discovery, "Perfect! Jonah, do you happen to see a stone that's long and slender--perhaps even triangular in shape? If I understood the riddle correctly, the water revealed the lock and a stone must be used as a key. I'll look for the key as well."
Simeon went to the other end and began looking around for a stone that fit that description.
Despite their need for a long, triangular stone, they found 3, one smaller in size than the next. The first stone had a length of 1 inch and each side of the triangle was one inch. The next one was half the dimensions, and the third a quarter the original dimensions. the length, however, doubled in size every time the triangle became smaller. on one triangular side of each stone the was a small indent, the size and shape of the next stone.
"Interesting," began Simeon as he looked at the stones Jonah found, "If it weren't for the indentions on one end of each stone I would have been very confused. It appears we have to put them end to end before sliding them into the keyhole. We form a key out of stone." He looked up at Jonah, "Ready to give it a try, friend."
Frank bid them farewell and the door closed behind them. They were plunged into complete darkness. The walls started to enclose on them, pinning them. They smelled a sweet aroma, like oranges mixed with blueberries. They were rendered unconscious.
They awoke to find themselves in a cell. There was a barred door on one side and a small window, too small for either of them to fit through, directly across from it. there was straw on the ground for bedding and most likely a toilet too. It was just grimy and disgusting overall. Every so often, an ogre would walk by the cell door with a lantern.
The window offered a view of a courtyard with torches around the perimeter. The sky held no stars or moon, and was pitch black. They could see other cell windows on the upper levels of the building across the courtyard, but there were no lights coming from those windows.
It looked like they were on the third floor, third cell from the left.
((guys, just rp a bit, interact with the guard if you want, there will be a time when someone comes to get you))
"Indeed," said Simeon groggily as he stirred awake, "It would seem we've been played as fools."
Then, as an addendum he said, "Although, I have no clue what purpose one could have by tossing us in a cell such as this. I do not believe I have done such a wrong against another man that it would afford such treatment."
If Jonah doesn't respond to that for a while, Simeon adds, "Perhaps--hm. Perhaps this is another test. Now that we have found our way in, perhaps we need to find our way out."
