Alec walked among the villagers, hoping to do something to calm them. Explaining what had happened to them as best as he could without revealing their trusted doctor was the one that had cause them so much strife - he would leave that to the elder to decide.
Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning, striding behind you, or your shadow at evening, rising to meet you. I shall show you fear in a handful of dust.
Serenity led the trail of townsfolk home with the boy in her arms, he drifted off to sleep again as they walked home. Upon their arrival it looked like everyone was waiting for them. Gwiyn especially was at the head of the waiting party and ran towards Serenity as soon as she saw her with her little brother in hand.
Serenity handed him over and she unexpectedly got a kiss on the cheek from her, the overwhelming feeling of gratitude understandable.
Gwiyn had tears in her eyes, "Thank you, thank you so much, after losing my grandfather I thought I would be alone in this world."
The lady mage became solemn, a tinge of pain entering her heart, "I'm sorry, I wish we could of seen him before he past."
"He died peacefully, not long before you came back, he had a smile on his face."
Stephen and Paul came forward now, Paul helping the missing folks along.
"We saw Dean heading out into the forest, I thought nothing of it at first but it was a strange thing to do. You meet up with him?"
"We can talk about that after we get the town settled."
"Well that don't sound good..."
Stephen then had a look of awe in his face, a look that was passed Serenity and towards Tanto that now revealed himself for the first time to this generation of people.
Grayell brought up the rear and ran his hand down the side of the great wolf as he passed. These people were in awe, very much a celebrity having come to town.
Instead, he walked away from the crowd. He would allow them to celebrate their freedom without him, he would instead pay his respects to the elder.
Grayell wasn't entirely sure what it meant to be bound to the great wolf, but it somehow made him feel more whole, something that he had been missing for many, many years since his last dealings with a blood mage. Tanto reminded him that indeed, as he had said to Serenity but nights ago; wolves were not to be feared. He could not let the corruption of the Garou shift his own opinion in such a manner. Perhaps with this new bond, he would find he had renewed vigor in his quest.
He left the people as they were - slack jawed in the best way and entirely happy - and walked off alone.

Alec wanders through the crowd, nearly in a daze. Rarely had he been in a crowd this size, and even less often had he been so at ease. Nearly subconsciously, he searches the crowd for his companions, only finding Serenity. He makes way to her, dodging in and out of celebrating groups. "Where's the elder?" he asks. "He should be here to see this. And we need to talk to him about-" he stops, looking around at the cheering people. "About someone we both know and hate."
Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning, striding behind you, or your shadow at evening, rising to meet you. I shall show you fear in a handful of dust.
A ceremony was held, in honor of the elder, the returned town's folk and in celebration of the Great Wolf Tanto who finally showed himself to the people.
Alec and Serenity had broken it down easy to Gwiyn and a few others about Dean. No doubt they would be wary of strangers from now on, but at least the matter was settled. Serenity held back from receiving pay for her part, saying that she'd rather they keep it to replenish a little of what they lost.
Gwiyn, the new elder went up to Grayell and Alec instead with two sacs of gold,
"Its not much, but we hope you understand that you've done more than we could of asked for and are eternally thankful. You ever returned our faith in the forest god."
Gwiyn handed over the bags filled with 30 gp for Grayell and Alec.
Tanto stayed for the night at least, near the village, but before the wolf departed he seemed to be calling out to Grayell.
During the celebration, Serenity went over to see Alec about the book.
"Professor, what do you intend to do about that book you're carrying? Don't think I didn't notice."

Grayell had continued to remain apart from the festivities through the night. He had honored the elder without the crowd and whilst he partook of the food and drink, he only did so in moderation. He refused to share any tales at the requests of the children but instead encouraged them to play and have fun.
His mind was still somewhere else, he had a lot to contemplate. This town would know an earnest wealth if they continued to honor the wolf.... if. Something about that concerned Grayell, rarely has a creature been so misunderstood. He wondered what ongoing years would bring, would new generations know the gift this tiny town knew? How would they commune with it, would he be needed? No one had these answers.
When the wolf called, Grayell again left the party and this time, slipped into the woods without a word.
Alec [M:118:6:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=412&page=1#1242]"I see," said the blind man to the deaf lady.[0:Wandering the stacks.][1:Present and accounted for.]
Looking at her, he reaches into the pocket, and feels the cover of the book, now nearly crumbled away. "I..." he begins, then stalls. He looks away, unable to meet her eye. "I intend to keep it." He forces himself to look at her. "However, I do not intend to use the knowledge within." He smiles, a twisted mirror to the one he had after the battle. "That's what you're asking, isn't it? If I'll go insane and create my own blood-stone?"
Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning, striding behind you, or your shadow at evening, rising to meet you. I shall show you fear in a handful of dust.
She was disappointed with the answer but couldn't help but chuckle a little at his distress, "Can you even use blood magic, Alec? I was hoping you would just burn the cursed thing." she sighed, "But if you intend to keep it I hope you can be responsible for it, I will be watching you sir." she winked and then walked away to see to the rest of the festivities.
Tanto looked at Grayell with glowing eyes, when he approached the giant wolf lowered his head to nudge him a little, the fur on his mouth feeling ticklish and warm on Grayell's skin. Before standing back up, Tanto opened its mouth slightly and a small ball of light formed in front of it. It dropped slowly into Grayell's hand to reveal a wolf fang, not quite as big as one of Tanto's though.
Something about it felt strange though, familiar, just holding it made Grayell seem to connect with Tanto more. Their bond was more than just of a long friendship, brotherhood, but now of life just as the elder before Grayell shared his with the mighty wolf.
Grayell closed his hand over the fang and smiled, but there was a longing, a sadness in his smile. He stared into the eyes of the great wolf and rubbed it's chin.
I'll honor this. You... you call on me if you or these people need me. I'd like to call by often brother.
Grayell petted Tanto's nose and then turned to leave. There was no urgency in his step and he still seemed somber. He stopped and looked back at the great wolf as it was taking it's leave.
Hey. You guard the pack alright? Tell me about them some time.... and remember me on your hunts.
Grayell managed a half-smile and then left, the fang clutched tightly in his hand and against his chest.

"There is no evil knowledge," he says, mostly to himself. "Only the evil application of knowledge." Alec pulls the book out of his pocket, contemplating what little was left of the cover. "There is no evil knowledge," he repeats to himself, dropping the book into the main bonfire of the celebration.
Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning, striding behind you, or your shadow at evening, rising to meet you. I shall show you fear in a handful of dust.
Gwiyn tried to chase after her little brother who seemed to be carrying a sac of something.
"I'm so sorry to disturb you sir, after hearing your mention of metal magic, he wanted to give you something."
She lifted Tom off the ground but his hand was still outstretched to Alec, who handed him a sac of 3 large brass marbles, nearly as big as the boy's palm.
And so the party departed in the morning, the wagon safely escorting them all back to Wistvale, Tanto able to protect his ancestral forest in peace, and the people who inhabit it able to know him once more.

You had a few really nice posts Alec, I wanted to border a 4, and of course you seemed to stay in character most of the time but there's a lot of work that could have been done.
